The first week of August brought together 54 container gardening professionals from across the United States and Canada in Philadelphia—America’s Garden Capital—for an inspiring and educational gathering. Each gathering continues to grow and this marked the largest turnout yet for the association.
Attendees enjoyed two days packed with learning, networking, and botanical inspiration. The event kicked off with a captivating talk by Karl Gercens, Longwood Gardens, who shared the sources of his creative energy. Afterwards, attendees explored the awe inspiring grounds of Longwood Gardens—a highlight for many, particularly the conservatory and annual garden, which were bursting with color.
The evening session featured Kaitlyn Sterner, Director of Technical Support at Jack’s Fertilizer, who set the record straight on the best fertilizing practices. She was followed by Shannon Kuhrt, President of M & M Wintergreens who shared all things winter, including current trends in winter planters.
Day two began with a relaxing morning at the breathtaking Chanticleer Garden, the perfect setting to soak in the beauty of summer in full bloom. Dan Bernarcik shared his creative approach to designing Chanticleer’s iconic container displays, offering inspiration and practical takeaways. The day continued with a delicious lunch and some leisurely shopping at Terrain, another inspirational opportunity for attendees. For those who stayed into the evening, the event wrapped up with a casual and fun social dinner in West Chester—a fitting close to two days filled with connection, creativity, and shared passion for plants.
